Gematria Discoveries

A collection of gematria connections and numerical patterns discovered while studying Scripture. These are devotional insights, not doctrinal foundations.

Word Connections

Love (אהב) and One (אחד)

  • Ahavah (אהבה) — Love: 1 + 5 + 2 + 5 = 13
  • Echad (אחד) — One: 1 + 8 + 4 = 13

Love and oneness share the same value. The Shema says: "The LORD our God, the LORD is one" (Deuteronomy 6:4) and we are called to love God with everything (Deuteronomy 6:5). Love and oneness are numerically linked.

Light (אור) and Secret (רז)

  • Or (אור) — Light: 1 + 6 + 200 = 207
  • Raz (רז) — Secret: 200 + 7 = 207

Light reveals secrets. God is light and in Him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5).

Number Patterns

The Number 37 — The Heart of Wisdom

  • Yechida (יחידה) — Unity, oneness: 10 + 8 + 10 + 4 + 5 = 37
  • Appears in key Hebrew words related to wisdom and understanding

The Number 26 — The Name

  • YHWH (יהוה) — The sacred name: 10 + 5 + 6 + 5 = 26
  • God's covenant name carries this value throughout Scripture

Verse Numerical Patterns

Genesis 1:1 — The Foundation

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Bereshit bara Elohim et ha-shamayim v'et ha-aretz)

The Hebrew letters of this verse reveal mathematical patterns that have fascinated scholars for centuries. The verse contains:

  • 7 words — the number of spiritual perfection
  • 28 letters (7 × 4) — creation completeness
  • The first and last letters spell et (את) — the sign of the direct object, Jesus the Aleph and Tav

Isaiah 53 — The Suffering Servant

Chapter 53 has 12 verses. The chapter speaks of the Messiah who would suffer for our sins. Twelve is the number of governmental perfection — Jesus is the King who suffered to establish His kingdom.

Personal Discoveries

This section will be updated as new discoveries are made during study.

Caution

Remember: gematria illuminates, it doesn't legislate. These patterns are beautiful and can deepen worship, but they should never be used to build doctrine that isn't clearly taught elsewhere in Scripture.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." — 2 Timothy 3:16

The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing: Jesus.
