Memory hook: Vav = nail, hook, connection. He was nailed beside the Savior and connected to Him by faith in his last moments. Six is the number of the nails that held them there.

Why this number? 6 maps to Vav (ו) — nail, hook, connection. The thief was crucified — nailed — beside Jesus and, through faith, was connected to Him forever. He is the only person in Scripture explicitly promised paradise that same day.
