14 — Person: The Israelite (Passover)

Number: 14

Person: The Israelite (head of household at the first Passover)

Action: Applying blood to the doorposts and lintel

Object: Passover lamb / blood in a basin, hyssop

Scripture connection: Exodus 12:6–7 — On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight they kill the lamb and put the blood on the two doorposts and the lintel of the house; Exodus 12:13 — the blood is a sign; the LORD will pass over.

Memory hook: 14th of Nisan — the day the lamb is killed and the blood applied. One night, one act of obedience — the door marked so that death passes over. Fourteen locks the date in place.

Why this number? 14th of Nisan — Exodus 12:6. The Passover lamb is killed and the blood applied to the doorposts on the fourteenth; the Israelite who obeys is spared when the LORD passes over.
